Product Description WD Advanced Format technology increases media format efficiency, thus enabling larger drive capacities. WD Advanced Format drives are specifically optimized for Mac and the latest Windows operating systems such as Windows Vista and Windows 7. WD Advanced Format drives work with legacy operating systems such as Windows XP but require the use of the free WD Align software available on www.wdc.com/advformat.Available in capacities up to 2 TB, WD Caviar GreenTM SATA hard drives reduce power consumption by up to 40% and offer best-in-class acoustics and operating temperature. Based on WD's exclusive GreenPowerTM technology, these drives are designed to deliver power savings as the primary attribute. As hard drive capacities increase, the power required to run those drives increases as well. WD Caviar Green drives make it possible for energy-conscious customers to build systems with higher capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation. They are ideal for PCs, external storage and other devices that require lower power consumption and cool, quiet operation.

Bought and Return September 6, 2010 This product could be awesome too? but I did not have a chance to use it and this is the reason: I have ordered 3 of this product and 3 covers and install it myself and I just installed one and it did not work so I return them. I know if I bought them already installed, I will love them as well the 500GB I just bought and use to entertain me and all the friends every day (Karaoke). Anthony
PS. I don't like to rate this product 'cause I haven't used it yet.
iMac HD replacement September 6, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this drive to replace the original drive from my 2008 iMac. Works like a charm, fast and very low noise level (better than the original disk).
Dead on arrival August 27, 2010 Hard drive was very poorly packaged by Amazon, extremely disappointed. When I plugged it in it made a very high pitch squealing sound and I was never able to get it to recognize with my BIOS. I had always bought the blue or black series, I guess I was avoiding green for a reason.
WD 1.5 TB Caviar Green August 23, 2010 I bought the drive a couple weeks ago and have loaded 1 TB of data but now, my computer would not even recognize the drive. I should call WD for help before making any judgement on this product but it did create great fear against using HDD.
Worst product out of thousands I've bought on Amazon August 19, 2010 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After spending four hours reading tales of woe from other customers online, as I tried to configure this product and get it working in spite of the useless WD website product information, I've given up at last. In total I tried to install this drive on three machines. None were able to even recognize it for more than a few minutes after bootup. One returned a cyclic redundancy check failure for the drive, and seems to have been damaged at the motherboard level by my simply trying to install this drive (MSI X58 pro MB). I've never had any problems installing harddrives in the past-- was actually installing 3 others with this one and they all were essentially plug and play. This was one of the worst buying experiences I've ever had, between wasting so many hours and potentially having hurt my computer in some way I didn't even realize was possible. Hope no permanent harm will have been done. I will never buy another harddrive from this company.
