    Amazon.com Product Description
The Sonnet FAD-824 FireWire 400 to 800 Adapter allows you to use your old FireWire 400 devices with newer FireWire 800 ports.

    Avoid Hassles--Just Adapt!
Which cable should you get? What length? Why bother? Use your existing FireWire 400 cables with this FireWire adapter from Sonnet to connect FireWire 400 devices to a FireWire 800 port, without going through the trouble of purchasing yet another cable. Just plug it in between a FireWire 800 port and a standard FireWire 400 cable's 6-pin male connector (the other end of the FW400 cable plugs into your FireWire device). It can't get any simpler.

    Key Benefits:

    • 9-pin male (FW800) to 6-pin female (FW400) connector adapter
    • Works with standard 6-pin male FW400 cables
    • Connect legacy FireWire 400 devices to FireWire 800 ports used on the Allegro FW800, as well as the latest computers that feature FireWire 800
    • IEEE 1394 compliant
The Sonnet FAD-824 FireWire 400 to 800 Adapter is compatible with any Mac or Windows computer with FireWire 800 ports and is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

    4 out of 5 stars Sonnet firewire 400 to 800   August 5, 2010
Im going from my pro tools firewire 400 out to my powerbook firewire 800 & it works fine . I recommend it . A cheap & easy way to resolve mismatch firewire ports..

5 out of 5 stars Slimmest Design   July 30, 2010
This works perfectly as I expected, but the best feature is its slim design that allows me to plug in a USB cable to the adjacent port on my MacBook Pro. I tried another product (with ribbed sides) first, but it interfered with an adjacent USB cable connector. The Sonnet adapter fit without any problem.

    4 out of 5 stars Works.   June 28, 2010
It works fine and dandy, but it so big and awkward that sometimes its hard to stick it in if there are multiple items taking up the adjacent spaces. No technical problems thus far, though.

5 out of 5 stars solid product   May 19, 2010
Solid Product. I used it with both firewire camera and external drive on MacBook Pro. What more can one write about an adapter? It works :)

    5 out of 5 stars Worked Like A Champ   April 29, 2010
I only used this once with the migration manager to move data and settings from a Mac mini to a MacBook Pro. Worked just like it was supposed to.
